Stewardship
Ownership is a responsibility to the people, customers, suppliers, and communities that depend on the business.
About Velvet Rock
Velvet Rock Partners is seeking to acquire and operate one enduring local service business with a long-term, owner-operator mindset.
Our story
Velvet Rock was formed around a simple conviction: many great local businesses deserve a thoughtful succession option that protects employees, customers, and the reputation the owner has spent years building.
We are not trying to buy dozens of companies. Our search is intentionally narrow. We aim to acquire one strong founder-owned service business in the Upper Valley or surrounding New Hampshire and Vermont market, learn it deeply, and operate it with care.
Our background at Dartmouth helped shape the search, but it is not the headline. The headline is the responsibility we hope to take on: becoming a serious, prepared, and respectful next owner for the right business.
Operating principles
Ownership is a responsibility to the people, customers, suppliers, and communities that depend on the business.
We prioritize retaining key employees, customer trust, and the local character of the company.
The seller and employees understand the business best. Our first job is to listen and learn.
We evaluate carefully, communicate directly, and avoid creating unnecessary complexity during a transition.
We focus on businesses that matter to communities throughout New Hampshire and Vermont.
We seek durable value creation rather than a quick financial exit.
Why sellers should take us seriously
We recognize that selling a business requires trust. We are building Velvet Rock with experienced support around diligence, financing, legal process, accounting, and operations so that conversations are handled professionally.
We will never pretend to know a business better than the person who built it. Our approach is to combine hard work, careful analysis, advisor input, and respect for the operating knowledge already inside the company.
